Cruise Line Loyalty Clubs: The Free Cruise Club You Already Have

Sail once with most major lines and you are enrolled in its loyalty club. These are the most widely used cruise clubs of all, and they cost nothing. Each line gives its club a name:

How points, tiers, status matches and past-guest offers work is covered in depth on our sister site Frequent Cruiser Program — we will not repeat it here.

What a Loyalty Club Means Socially

Higher-tier loyalty members on many lines are invited to on-board receptions, and some ships have lounges or events for top-tier guests. That makes loyalty clubs a social club of sorts: you will often see the same faces from sailing to sailing on a favorite ship.

The details differ by line and change over time, so check your own program’s current benefits page before you count on any perk.

Sister Lines and Shared Status

Several cruise companies own more than one line, and some recognize a guest’s status across their brands through status matches. Royal Caribbean Group, for example, links its brands through tier matching that its apps describe. Whether you benefit depends on the lines you sail; the details, by program, are on Frequent Cruiser Program.

Getting Credit for Every Sailing

  • Add your loyalty number to every booking, including group and agency bookings.
  • Check after each cruise that the nights were credited, and ask the line if not.
  • Make sure the name on your loyalty account matches your passport.
  • If you sail with two lines from the same company, ask whether status is shared or matched.

Our cruise advisors at Mister Cruise add loyalty numbers to every booking they make.

Loyalty Clubs and Your Other Clubs

Loyalty clubs combine well with the other kinds of cruise club. A group sailing with your local club still earns each member’s loyalty credit, provided each cabin carries the right membership number. Roll call members often compare which tier perks they have, and some programs give their top tiers invitations to shipboard events where you will meet the line’s most frequent guests.

Programs also change. Carnival moved from the VIFP Club to Carnival Rewards in 2026, and lines adjust benefits from time to time, so treat any perk list — including ones posted on forums — as a starting point and confirm on the line’s own page.
