Cruise Club FAQ
Is a cruise club the same as a loyalty program?
Sometimes. Many people use “cruise club” for a line’s loyalty program, but it can also mean a roll call, a local social club or a paid travel club.
How do I join my sailing’s roll call?
Create a free account on the Cruise Critic forums, find your line, ship and sailing month, and introduce yourself in the thread for your date.
Do I have to attend the meet and greet?
No. It is optional and informal.
Are there cruise clubs for singles?
Many roll calls have solo travellers, and some lines host solo get-togethers on board. Sailing Single has more.
Are there cruise clubs for over-50s?
Local travel clubs at senior and community centers often include cruises. Baby Boomer Cruises covers cruising over 50.
What is a hosted group cruise?
A sailing where an organizer leads a group, often with private events. Cruise With a Host explains how they work.
Is it safe to share my cruise plans online?
Share the ship and date if you like, but keep your cabin number, home address and the dates your house is empty off public pages.
Can a paid travel club cancel my cruise?
If the club booked it with the cruise line, the booking is with the line. Ask for the line’s booking number and check it yourself.
How do I report a travel club scam?
In the US, report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, and contact your card issuer about charges.
Is there a cruise club for people who sail from my home port?
Often there is an online group for regulars of a busy port. Search social media for the port name with the word cruise, and check local meetup listings.
Can a cruise club help me pick a ship?
Members can share their experience, which is valuable. For prices, availability and promotions, ask an advisor too.
Do I need to be a member of anything to get a good cruise price?
No. Public promotions are open to everyone, and an advisor can check offers you qualify for at no cost.
Do roll calls cost anything?
No. Joining a roll call on a forum or app is free, though you may choose to pay for shared tours members organize.
Can I join a roll call if I booked through a travel agent?
Yes. Roll calls are for anyone sailing on that ship and date, however they booked.
What is the difference between a cruise club and a group cruise?
A club is the people; a group cruise is one sailing booked together. Many clubs book a group cruise now and then.
Can our club get a group rate?
Cruise lines treat a set number of cabins booked together as a group, which can bring group pricing or amenities. Ask an advisor for the rules on your sailing.
